foliage will be at its best.
Natalie Wilson has taught workshops for yarn shops
and national events from coast to coast. Her style is warm and easy going which
puts her high on our list. Her focus will be to bring her experience and enthusiasm
for knitting to share with all of you. As a personal aside, she has her own knitwear
pattern line, iknitiative llc. If you have completed any of her projects, I am
sure she would love to see your renditions.
Knitting
through Thick and Thin Saturday
October 14 - 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
Explore
the opportunities and limitations of combining different weights of yarn in the
same knitted fabric to create interesting textures and beguiling openwork. The
workshop is designed for the advanced beginner as an introduction to knitting
intriguing fabrics with interesting properties. Explore design inspiration, experimentation
and creativity.
Get Shorty: Exploring Shortrows
in Knitting Saturday
October 14 - 1:30 - 4:30
Learn where, why, and
how shortrowing reveals amazing possibilities for fabulous finishing, easy-yet-dazzling
colorwork, and fit-enhancing shaping in your knitting. Master this supremely useful
technique that will greatly enhance your knitting skills. Practice the mechanics
of shortrowing-wrapping stitches and turning, then later hiding those wraps. We
will discuss applications that may or may not be written in knitting patterns.
There is a preclass knitting assignment.
Knitting
with Ribbon Yarns Sunday
October 15 - 10:00 - 1:45 Brunch included
In this hands-on workshop, we will go beyond stockinette and garter to try
out several stitch patterns that highlight the characteristics and appearance
of those gorgeous ribbon yarns so popular today. We will elongate, slip, cross,
wrap, and loop and also learn expert tips for handling ribbon yarns. Application
in projects from scarves to sweaters will be discussed.
Saturday class fees
are $60 per class, early bird special $50 for signups by September 15. A sumptuous
luncheon will be available, catered by the staff of The Outlook Restaurant, famous
for weddings, rehearsals and corporate functions. Sign up for both Saturday classes
and your luncheon will be complements of The Woolpack. If you're only taking a
single class, we hope you extend your knitting adventure by making your luncheon
reservation and join us for lunch. $15 per person.
Sunday's class includes
a bruncheon buffet and a supply of ribbon yarns to play with. Class fee will be
$80 with an early bird special price of $65.
Everyone goes home with Woolpack
goodies. Classes are limited to 25 - sign up quickly. A deposit of $30 per class
is due at signup, the balance of class and luncheon fees are due October 6. No
refunds or cancellations after October 6.

visit with Ellen Joseph and her Reclaimed Cashmere

Watch Local Artisan Ellen Joseph as she works her magic creating
rewinding cashmere yarns for hand knitters out of much finer strands of formerly
machine knit cashmere. Ask her that burning question - Why would you do this?
Get first pick of the current colorations she is blending together. She will charm
you with stories of her inspiration as well as draw you in with her love of spinning
as well. We will have a number of patterns available for the men and women in
your life that would show off Ellie's Reclaimed cashmere - Luxury Rewound.

Sunday, September 24 and October 1 from 12 - 3
A creative
workshop for using every last inch of yarn. Bring a variety of your fun, colorful
odds and ends, tiny fabric scraps, bits of lace, quilting and scrapbooking bits.
Suzanne will draw from her textile experience to guide you through the process
yet encourage you to think outside the box on day one. Day two, Janet will oversee
the less spectacular but oh so necessary process of creating the grid that keeps
you design in place. And then - The Great Voila! You will go home with a boutique
scarf of your own signature design. Class fee $45, materials fee $15. (see
